davidelevi 600 Report post Posted July 24, 2014 Start from the Diamond Finder here... http://www.diamondreview.com/diamonds plenty of diamonds on offer by reputable sellers. However, you would probably benefit from defining your request a little more tightly... what does good quality mean? Have you seen diamonds in different colours, clarity and cut grades? Can you tell the differences? mike 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2014 (edited) Can you comment on this diamond price is US$7,500.00 GIA REPORT NUMBER 7172112197 measurement: 6.44 - 6.45 x 3.94 mm Size: 1.01 carat Edited July 26, 2014 by mike
davidelevi 600 Report post Posted July 27, 2014 (edited) Hum. The diamond is fine. Direct link to GIA report http://www.gia.edu/cs/Satellite?reportno=7172112197&childpagename=GIA%2FPage%2FReportCheck&pagename=GIA%2FDispatcher&c=Page&cid=1355954554547 It is priced close to the top of similarly graded stones offered by competitive internet sellers: http://www.diamondreview.com/diamonds/?sortOrder=price&sortDesc=1&fShape=Rnd&fCaratLo=1.00&fCaratHi=1.05&fColorLo=I&fColorHi=I&fClarityLo=VVS2&fClarityHi=VVS2&fCutLo=&fCutHi=poor&fDepthLo=0.0&fDepthHi=100.0&fTableLo=0.0&fTableHi=100.0&fSymLo=ideal&fSymHi=exc&fPolLo=ideal&fPolHi=exc&fCulLo=&fCulHi=vlarge&fFlrLo=none&fFlrHi=none&fPriceLo=0&fPriceHi=999900&fLabGIA=1&fLabAGS=1&adv=1 The real question is why are you going for an I/VVS2? You are paying a premium for something you won't see (very high clarity) and you may instead see a bit of a tint to the diamond. davidelevi 600 Report post Posted July 28, 2014 Go out and look at things first. There is no point in trying to spend money without understanding what you are buying (or: a fool and his money are soon parted, if you prefer). Get an idea of what you can and cannot see - most people can't tell the difference between D and H, or between an SI1 and a VVS1, without training and tools; same for differences in size and cut. At the least, read through the tutorials on this site (and others), read through the forum threads to get an idea of what people are looking for and what they consider important in their search. There is little point in anyone recommending something without you having clearer ideas on what you are looking for and willing to trade off: for $8k, you can find a 0.8 D/IF, or a 1.50 J/SI2. Both have their market, yet I wouldn't buy either for my engagement ring. It doesn't make those that buy them "wrong". davidelevi 600 Report post Posted March 2, 2016 sharayaroy: 1) The thread is - as usually when you post on them - dead. In this case by nearly 2 years. 2) The OP has not even mentioned a setting 3) "Less than half the price" - that is taurine excrement. Custom making jewellery is pretty much by definition more expensive than items manufactured in large series. the_friendly_chicagoan 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2017 I did a lot of research when I tried buying my engagement ring. I visited pawn shops and few local jewelers and the price they offered me was too low. After doing further research, I found Rose Estate Jewelers (roseestatejewelers.com) in the Jeweler's Row of Chicago. They evaluated my price range and gave me the best options based on its design, aesthetic value, and original maker. The payout was more compared to other jewelers I had approached. It also helps that their website had a blurb about how Forbes used them as a source on how to sell estate jewelry. They’re also conveniently located in the Loop. Best of luck with your selling process, -A friendly Chicagoan

denverappraiser 491 Report post Posted February 10, 2017 Funny thing here. Forbes gets advice from ME, and it's not a blurb on my website.
