Diamond And Neodymium

Recommended Posts

I want to know exactly what will happen if we approach a super strong neodymium to a real diamond for a long time

the point it's not about magnetizing it, but as we know magnet attracts free electrons I'm just wondering if it can extract by the time factor some of the strong valency layer of the carbon atoms

Considering that MRI fields are of the order of 3-10 times those of a typical neodymium magnet, and people - full of carbon atoms bound in ways far less stable than diamond's - come out of MRI scans with no significant ill effects, I suspect you could leave the magnet there literally for an eternity and nothing would happen (other than through quantum statistical effects).
