Diamond Has Both Igi And Gia Inscriptions??

Recommended Posts

Just bought a loose diamond that was inspected by GIA on 11/22/11 and IGI on 5/23/12. I got both inspection pamphlets, and they both say the identical thing about the diamond (GIA is a bit more detailed though).

$3700 (IGI pricing)

Both GIA and IGI said-

0.70 CT

Color: F

Clarity: SI1

Cut/Polish/Symmetry: Very Good

And I guess there are two inscriptions on the diamond. Is this normal? I just haven't come across anything like this. Just curious. Thanks!

It could happen. If anything, I'm surprised that the two labs agree!!!

IGI has an appraisal only service where they are directly referencing the GIA grades given to them. They will, of course, match if this is the case. Usually IGI won't add a second inscription and GIA may or may not have inscribed it depending on which service was ordered. There's nothing particularly wrong with 2 inscriptions and it should be easy enough to tell if this is the case in a few seconds with a loupe.
