I've heard of YAG (Yttrium Aluminium Garnet - also used as a diamond simulant) and YIG (Yttrium Iron Garnet - used in microwave lasers), but never of YEG.

 

I think your best bet for a reasonably certain ID is to take the stones to a gemologist (not a jeweller, or at least not all jewellers are gemologists); whatever we come up with here based on words and photos is going to be at best an informed guess - the letters may not refer to the stones after all.
