Your qualifier of ‘everything’ being the same it a whopper and it’s a reason that people are having difficulty answering your question. There are plenty of stones that cost more than diamonds under certain circumstances. For example, the sapphire from Princess Diana’s wedding ring would bring a fortune if it came up at auction. 22 pounds of Moon rock cost the US taxpayers about 300 billion dollars (about $5500/ct) but you’ll be hard pressed to buy one, even if that’s what you want. Legend has it that Cleopatra sold an entire country in exchange for a single pearl but I would not conclude that pearls (or sapphires or moon rocks) are therefore more valuable than diamonds. It's just not that easy a question.
