How do you avoid conflict diamonds?

Recommended Posts

You can never be 100% sure.

If you want to make 99.9% sure you avoid "blood diamonds", then go with one of the Canadian companies. I've seen companies that cater to this market ("green" diamonds) and you do pay a premium.

If you're ok with 98.9%, then go to any of the reputable companies with higher quality stones and better pricing, and just ask them if they comply with the Kimberley process. To learn more about this process, I suggest you do a search for "Kimberley process", I believe there is an entire website dedicated to it. Basically, the way Kimberley works is each supplier in the diamond supply chain warrants to each buyer down the chain that the diamond was obtained through legitimate sources.
