1. Neither EGL nor any of the other laboratories "certify" anything. All they do is give you a "grading report" and let you decide things like value on your own.


2. Neither EGL nor any of the other laboratories give grading reports on rings. The report is strictly on the diamond(s).


3. EGL, though reputable, does not enjoy the higher reputation that GIA and AGS curently hold. This is based on a lot of anecdotal accounts of diamonds being graded on "looser" standards than GIA or AGS. The difference can mean $1K or so for a larger stone.
