greylpetra 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2020 Hi! I need your help. My fiance proposed to me, gave me a diamond engagement ring, but six months later my ring broke. I noticed that a crack appeared on my ring. Who should I contact to have my ring repaired and the diamond not damaged?
davidelevi 599 Report post Posted November 19, 2020 I can't see the crack in the photo, but it doesn't matter. After 6 months I would expect the original seller/maker of the ring to be responsible for fixing it, unless you have mistreated the ring, or you have had the ring resized or altered by someone else. greylpetra 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2020 No, the size was chosen when buying the ring. We did not change its size, I was surprised how perfectly I fit the size of the ring.
davidelevi 599 Report post Posted November 19, 2020 Then go back to the vendor - these things should last a lifetime, not 6 months! denverappraiser 491 Report post Posted November 20, 2020 (edited) ^^^^ What he said. If the original seller isn't available for whatever reason, pick almost any jeweler. If the metal is gold or platinum, this is a common and generally simple repair. Edited November 20, 2020 by denverappraiser Neil Beaty GG(GIA) ICGA(AGS) NAJA  There's never a crowd when you go that extra mile. nkc 0 Report post Posted January 12 (edited) @denverappraiser Glad to find you here. I hope this forum does not have a list of "preferred venders" and people are not chastised if they don't agree to use these vendors. Is Karl K here too? Nope. Welcome to DiamondReview, by the way! I haven't seen Karl here either - though of course he may be lurking just as I do on PS... 😉 Davide - Specialised Consumer Information and Assistance, Diamonds by Lauren (http://www.diamondsbylauren.com) davide@diamondsbylauren.com

But, I only discovered this forum two days ago.
denverappraiser 491 Report post Posted Friday at 05:49 PM Just like PS, Diamond Review is supported by vendors who pay to be in the database. They aren't called 'preferred' or any synonym but they're out there and it's easier to see their listings than others. I don't think any of them participate in the forum, but I suppose they could if they wanted. Honestly, I don't even though who they are but their support is appreciated. That's what keeps the lights on. As Davide mentioned, Karl is welcome to come if he wants but it's his call alone. He's also welcome to use a different name and avatar if he wants in order to be anonymous. I suspect it's just that he's busy. Neil Beaty GG(GIA) ICGA(AGS) NAJA  There's never a crowd when you go that extra mile.
