Black Speck

Anything from something that has stuck to the diamond's outside in the last 5 minutes to a crystal of a dark-coloured mineral that has been inside the diamond for 2 billion years and that you are noticing now for whatever reason (including, for example, because the pavilion of the diamond has a little grease on it from hand lotion or soap).

Did you have the diamond/ring professionally cleaned recently? Most jewellers will do that for free "while you wait".

Did the diamond come with any documentation such as a lab report describing its characteristics?
