  1. @davidelevi Thanks for you opinion. Apart from my above concern, I was also thinking of carat size of earrings and pendant. In store, for 0.7 ct earring stud, 0.7 ct pendant was looking small in comparison on neck. Is 0.84 H VS2 diamond (my current choice) will look quite small/equal when worn with 0.76 ct earring stud? Should I prioritize carat over color and go for this 0.884ct I SI1 diamond, looking at its aset images and Feather near girdle, would you be concerned? https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.884-i-si1-round-diamond-ags-104071029010#!prettyPhoto[gallery2]/2/
  2. Thanks! I was leaning towards that but looking at the video of diamond, I can see the inclusions clearly. I know it’s magnified video but will these interfere with light return as it’s going to be in 3 prong. Is that ok? https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.864-h-si1-round-diamond-ags-c-104105166052
  3. I’m not sure if this is a good one - 0.864 H SI-1 $3764 https://agslab.com/ym-vdgr/diamonds/104105166052/grading-report or this - 0.840 H Vs2 $4044 https://agslab.com/ym-vdgr/diamonds/104105166027/grading-report or this - 0.848 G SI-1 $3947 https://agslab.com/ym-vdgr/diamonds/104105166044/grading-report Please help decide from these or better options if you can find any!
  4. Thanks @davidelevi! I went to Tiffany and could only see very little warmth in J or I color under store lighting. Away from spotlighting they looked whiter. So I’ve decided to stick with J color for earrings but for pendant the above J color is sold out and I’d like to upgrade color anyway. This pendant would be worn in 16” white gold chain in 3prong setting. Could you please help me pick the biggest stone under 1 carat with H or higher color from Brian gavin signature diamonds? Thanks!
  5. Well I know that cut is the most important C but my question is that is there a huge difference in performance between Signature H&A cut and GIA/AGS Excellent/Ideal Cut diamonds. I definitely agree on increasing budget for pendant color
  6. Thanks Davide. In store lighting, I couldn't pay much attention to color and I was in bit of a hurry too that day. Brian Gavin has only couple of SI clarity signature diamonds in 0.7 carat. And the price is quite high for VS clarity , G or H color matching pairs. That makes me wonder if the premium price for Brian Gavin cut is worth it in <1 carat diamonds? Should I look for Excellent cut diamonds at James Allen in better color and still cheaper? Is the cut going to make that much difference to justify extra couple thousand dollars?
  7. Thanks David for your reply! I did go into store to checkout J color diamonds but not in Tiffany. I checked out Ben bridge and Kay jewellers. They didn’t have AGS graded ideal stones and I couldn’t see color in diamonds rated as anywhere from G-J in store lighting face up. I guess my only reasoning for going down in color is that I want to buy a signature cut in my budget for light performance as Earrings are not as frequently cleaned as Rings . Also, being smaller in size (0.76ct) I was wondering if color would be visible in ear or around neck. Also would fluorescence help with yellow color in pendant?
  8. Hello, I need your advice on something - will a J color look yellow when set in 3 prong WG earrings and pendant? Brian gavin customer agent assures me that it'll be fine and that their cut makes the color less visible. See attached photo of the two -.76 ct diamonds. I have no experience of purchase from Brian gavin so don't really know if their signature cut can make that much of a difference in less than 1 carat weight. Earring - https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.766-j-vs1-round-diamond-ags-104104723119 https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.764-j-vs1-round-diamond-ags-104104723118 Pendant - https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.890-j-vs2-round-diamond-ags-bl-104071029005 But when I looked at AGS Ideal J VS diamonds at James allen, they look very yellow in 20X and 1X zoom. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.72-carat-j-color-vs1-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-6166753 https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.73-carat-j-color-vs1-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-6166744 Should I sacrifice carat and go for higher color or I'm overthinking this? Please let me know your thoughts, I really appreciate it.
  9. That is all true! I just wanted to get your views on buying rings from amazon or ross-simmons :p
  10. Yes true. But still whose designs are good (bit modern) and reliable (i don't want my ring to break/bend in 7 days of wearing it). Also who is charging a better rate, not too expensive for the value.
  11. Hello, I'm looking to buy gold rings without any stone and not just a plain band. Could you suggest some websites to look at? I've looked at amazon and Ross-Simons but not sure of the experience of buying from there. https://www.ross-simons.com/14kt-yellow-gold-byzantine-x-ring-891868.html?cgid=jewelry-rings Any suggestions will be very helpful. Thanks!
  12. Thanks Davide and Laurent. Sorry for my absence. This brings me to my other question - Should the Culet be visible in a solitaire setting? Does this have an impact on light performance? I'm asking as I recently changed my setting from plain solitaire 6 prongs to thin pavè 6 prong solitaire. Previously my diamond was set too low and I couldn't see any space between culet and prongs. Also, the prongs were tightly enclosing & touching the diamond from all sides. Now in new setting they have set taller prongs which do not touch sides of diamonds (just top) and I can clearly see Culet as there is a gap between culet and prongs. I have also observed that my diamond looks more fiery now. Am I seeing things as it has been a while since the ring was away (20 days) and I had it only for 15 days before. Or does the separation between prongs and diamond has an impact on light performance? (I guess the research never ends...you can never know everything!)
  13. Hi All, I just saw 3 customer rings video on James Allen, 2 of which had ideal proportions (#1 & #2) and one didn't. The one with not so desirable proportions (#3) is showing huge amount of sparkle. I was just curious if a spotlight trick can make a diamond shine this much even if it's cloudy or my understanding of ideal proportions is wrong. 14. Thanks everyone! @LaurentGeorge Yes this image is from BGD I guess in that case I’ll keep the setting as is and I’ve this fear that something else will go wrong if I send it for service now
  15. Thanks Davide. There’s no dark crystal but close to 6’o clock prong there are clear crystal which reflect on the opposite side as well. Another picture added. I guess what I wanted to say was the 12’o clock prong is not in between 2 arrows as in previous sample image rather it’s on top of one of the arrows. Does this badly impact the look? This is my very first purchase and I have 25 days to get any service done on this. I really appreciate your inputs.
