  1. Hi everyone, I've narrowed my search to the following 3 diamonds. Looking for 1.6-1.8ct, and after much research, hard to decide between the 3. Any thoughts? Would medium fluoro and the slightly not as optimal angles in option 2 and 3 be putting off enough to go with option 1? I've attached pictures. Option 1 and 3 have the heart/arrows, option 2 only has the diamond picture. Option 3 also has the ASET. All are round, G, VS1, super ideal cut and all with excellent polish/symmetry. All are GIA certified. Option 1- $15,900 Weight:1.80 carats Ratio:1.01 Depth:62.0% Table:57.0% Crown Height:15.0% Crown Angle:34.5° Pavilion Angle:40.8° Pavilion Depth:43.0% Star Length:45.0% Girdle:Medium to Slightly Thick Culet:None Fluorescence: Faint Option 2- $14,200 Weight:1.75 carats Ratio:1.00 Depth:62.2% Table:57.0% Crown Height:15.5% Crown Angle:35.5° Pavilion Angle:40.8° Pavilion Depth:43.0% Star Length:55.0% Girdle:Medium to Slightly Thick Culet:None Fluorescence- Medium Blue Option 3- $13,000 Weight:1.70 carats Ratio:1.01 Depth:61.4% Table:59.0% Crown Height:14.5% Crown Angle:35.0° Pavilion Angle:40.8° Pavilion Depth:43.0% Star Length:50.0% Girdle:Medium to Slightly Thick Culet:None Fluorescence- Medium

David, Thank you for the very thoughtful reply. You bring up some great points, and after everything is said and done, I'm leaning towards the 3rd, as from the images I already know its going to look great, while the other two, in regards to the poorer photo quality, not quite so sure. One thing I did leave out, it is medium fluoro, but I cannot discern any cloudiness upon looking at the pictures, which I know is a potential issue. Thanks!

  6. Hi guys, would love some feedback on the following emerald cuts that I've narrowed down. I was able to get photos of all, but only one of them I was able to get official spec photos. Any opinions? I think the 3rd with the spec shots really looks great personally, and I think I might be leaning towards that. Lets start it off. FYI, I need to make a decision in 48 hours, so quick feedback needed! 1. Carat- 1.91 Cut- very good Color- H Clarity- IF Depth- 62.6% Table- 63% Polish and symmetry- excellent Girdle- medium to slightly thick Measure- 9.18 x 5.74 x 3.59 LW- 1.6

Thanks David, I'll try and see if I can get pictures. I get what your saying, its kind of ridiculous for such expensive purchases, they don't provide a photo.

Hi David, Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, like many I imagine in this day and age making purchases online, I am unable to see the stones and no spec images, but they are from reputable online dealers. I've heard about the step cuts that to keep clarity quite high, and I've heard about VS2, being good enough. To be honest, if it was VS2, I'd have no problem, it was just these ones in particular happened to have great clarity, and it wasn't at a significantly greater premium then similar stones. My budget is ~15k, looking for @ least 1.7 carats, I'm all ears if you have other options. I'm emphasizing appropriate depth/table perhaps too much? I've heard generally lower the better within reason, so near 60-63 is fairly optimal. Another I just came across that might fit the bill a bit better is below Ct- 1.76 Color-F Clarity-VS1 Depth/Table- 63.3/63 8.51x6.06x3.83 What a great resource this site is!

For the engagement ring. Emerald cuts. 1. Carat- 1.91 Cut- very good Color- H Clarity- IF Depth- 62.6% Table- 63% Polish and symmetry- excellent Girdle- medium to slightly thick Measure- 9.18 x 5.74 x 3.59 LW- 1.6 2. Carat- 1.93 Cut- very good Color- H Clarity- VVS2 Depth- 68.7% Table- 64% Polish- Excellent Symmetry- Very good Girdle- Thin to medium Measurements- 8.68 x 6.05 x 4.16 LW- 1.6 I'm feeling #1 myself, but I'm a little hesitent about the depth/table parameters. Do you guys have any subjective opinions on this, which one would look more brilliant? They are both roughly the same price, +/- $1000 Thanks, Ben
