My boyfriend has found an emerald-cut diamond, but I am not sure if he is being overpriced on it. Before he makes the purchase, could anyone let me know if, (1) it is a fairly good stone, (2) if it is overpriced. The details of the stone are as follows: Weight: 1.18 ct, Measurements: 6.54 x 5.40 x 3.71 mm, Depth: 68.7%, Table diameter 70%, crown height 11%, Pavillion depth: 54%, Girdle thickness: Med polished, Finish grade: Very Good, Purity: VVS1, Colour grade: D. This stone is EGL Certified. What prices would anyone expect to pay for this stone. I know that it may not be the perfect emerald-cut shape, but price wise? Greatful for any help given. From United Kingdom by the way.

I would not waste my money on a vvs1,I would go with a bigger stone even in an E color Vs1 quality, and get a bigger bang for my buck.
vs1 is considered as close to vvs without paying the price.

shop and compare

The diamond he wishes to purchase is a D colour and purity VVS1. What price would you expect to pay for 1.18 ct, more stone info given on my previous message. VVS1 in United Kingdon is one below Flawless. Many thanks for any help and for your recent reply..

Hi,
VVS1 is one grade lower than Fl. all over the world.
the prie really all depends on the make of the stone. Why don'yt you check out this site and compare.

I think that vvs1 is a waste of money, you should get a bit bigger and go for a VS1 just as good without paying the price.

good luck

Thanks Diamondsman for your help. However, I think that I rather go for quality rather than quantity. Knowing that I have something near perfect on my finger and more or less colourless is better than having something that is big with loads of inclusions in it. Thank you for your time and trouble, will check out the site you mention for price comparison anyway. Thank you from the UK!

I have a bloody red diamond from Africa, my stone is over 40.00 carats and it passed all tests to prove that its a diamond. What can I do with it?
