I have a diamond with specs that I can't find in the database. Can anyone offer some insight on the value?

Pear shaped
J-K color
VS2
.64
Very good cut

Many thanks!

You would be best to have it independently appraised. Very well cut is a broad general term and more cutting info would be needed. Also there is a split color grade, it could be one or the other or neither if it doesn't have a lab report from a respected laboratory.

Thanks for the response. It was appraised years and years ago, but I am certain the value indicated doesn't correspond to the current market. Here is more info from the original report:

Pear shape
.64
JK
VS-2
Depth %: 54.1
Table Dia. %: 61
Girdle: Medium to Thick
Culet: Large
Finish: Fair
Appraised in 1980
Valued at $2680.00

Any thoughts? I know the popularity and value of pears have gone considerably down since 1980. Also, what percentage of the appraised price should I be looking at for resale?

Many thanks!

It would help if you had a GIA lab report in selling it. Now a days, most people won't purchase a stone without one.
The split color grade, of J/K tells me that you don't have one.

Stones today in the J color VS2 without a lab report are running about $1200 range retail price range. You can drop the price some more if you go to a K color.

Also the large culet, may pose a problem, along with the table and depth and finish of only fair.
