my husband bought a 1 ct. marc. diamond annivarsy ring two years ago. It had a life time warranty. When the ring was less than two years old I lost one of the end stones. I took it back and they replaced the stone. when I picked it up the stone they replaced it with was dark . when I questioned it they told me the stone they replaced was on the other end and My husband must have bought the ring like that futher more all the prone on one side of the ring needed to be redone because the were worn and I was at risk of losing more stones and if I didn't pay to have it done it would void my warranty. I told them they were crazy because I hardly wear the ring except when I went out. and with the chances of me putting the ring on the same direction everytime I wore it ,to cause wear on one side was a lie.So I called their corporate office and told them what had happen. They told me they were sorry about what had happened and that they told their dealers to say what they said and the truth was the ring was mass produced in another country and there was a defect in the design of the ring and that was why I lost a stone so easily. They told me that they would make it right. They were going to replace all my stones so the clarity would match and mount them in a whole new ring. Well I got the ring back 12 weeks ago and now the shank cracked into. So I went to take it back But the store was closed so I went to another to have it looked at. They told me the shank was weak and flimsy and that three of the stones had major chips all along the sides I didn't beleive it . So they showed me under the microscope I was shocked!! They looked like old beat up cheap pieces of glass. They told me they were like that when they put them in the ring becuase the prongs were over some of the chips. Have I been ripped off? do I have any rights Being I took the new ring not knowing the conditions of the stones? Should I be looking under a microscope at any stone I buy?
