Is this normal? I've never had a diamond ring but love the one I have (when I get it back from being repaired..again!)
I wear the ring all the time but I'm not aware of snagging it or hitting it against things and yet I've lost 2 diamonds already..the second one I was informed was because a prong broke, the first just fell out.
My husband purchased the ring from Lundstrom jewelers as a gift for christmas. It cost $1599.00 and we purchased the 2yr service plan also.
In all honesty I'm now feeling like I shouldn't wear the ring as If I've lost 2 diamonds already whats the chances of me NOT! loosing the 4 originals I have left?
lost: 2 diamonds in 8mths..had the ring for only 1

It's quite possible if your prongs are breaking already that maybe the ring has gotten into some Chlorine or Bleach.
This will not harm the stones but damage the gold and make the ring start to crack apart.
If you have been in chemicals you might want to inform the jeweler. It may be new mounting time.
Also remember that jewelery is made of precious metals and gemstones so treat it as it should be.
Don't wear it while gardening and doing hard work. It is for adornment.
