A very good place to start is with
Dave Atlas excellent charts
(gemappraisers.com).

These charts will give you a very good idea on what to look for in better-cut
Princess'. Be aware, though that fancies are trickier than rounds
in that their architecture lends itself
to more variability; i.e., two Princess
with the same exact specs may differ
significantly in their "look" and light output.

Use Dave's chart to hone in on the better cuts, (1A, 2A, 2B), then arrange to look at such stones in person.

The BrillianceScope is a valuable tool that will give you a very accurate indication as to the extent of light output. See if your Jeweler can supply
you with such a BScope report.
For an example take a look at our
listed Princess Cuts.

There is no set standards for a princess cut.

It seems that the key is the smaller table (under 70) and
the thicker crown height to be the key.

Check Superbcut.com , gage it off those measurements.
