would a 3 carat 9.5m diameter diamond stone looks big on a 5ft3, 100lbs, size 4.5 finger?
I have 2.16c round stone 8.5m diameter now, and I am thinking about upgrading to 3 carat.
I tried on 3 carat a store, it looks nice, but I am not sure later on I might change my mind that it looks too big..
3 carat

3 ct round is a big rock on anyone. It is really a matter of personal taste though. We sold a 3.5 ct. recently and her ring size was a 3 1/2.

Very few stores in the mall carry stone over 2 carat. stores said that 3c is big and most customers are not comfortable wearing such big stone bc people most likely think it's fake.
Is it worth it for me to trade up 2.16c round for 3c round?
Would people really think it's tacky to wear big stone?

I noticed that your posts only refer to the size of the diamond- what about the cut and color? In my opinion, its incredibly tacky for people to go wearing 3ct diamonds that are poorly cut, yellowish and ugly....I can think of one friend who kept running around showing off her 3ct diamond...it was a horrible looking diamond, and she would have better spent the money on a 1ct. D/E/F H&A round than her poorly cut, highly included, J color 3ct. Her friends were joking behind her back about her 'costco' diamond, because costco tends to sell large, ugly diamonds for pretty cheap.
So, my opinion - focus on the diamonds beauty first, primarily driven by cut and color, then on other issue like the size. Anyone can buy an I1 3ct J color diamond, but no one will be impressed :-)
go for the most beautiful diamond you can comfortably buy, which in all likelihood is not the biggest you could buy.
Anyway, thats just my opinion, but hope that is helpful!

Less

I agree with Less.
Of all the "C's", "Cut" is the most
important!
A beautifully cut diamond will throw off more 'light',
look "bigger" than its actual carat weight, and most importantly tend to
"mask" inclusions in SI-1 and SI-2
clarity grades.
In addition, a beautifully cut diamond
because of it's maximum light output
will 'present' and 'face-up' "whiter" than its actual graded color.
Because of these factors, you could easily go for a beautifully cut
diamond in a SI-grade and get a bigger stone for you money without in the least
sacrificing 'appearence'.

My current stone is 2.16c H/VS1/GIA cert.
I tried on 3 carat at a store in mall, it's bigger than i would like it to be but my hand can carry it off.
Would EGL cert I color w/flourescence, SI be low quality?

I prefer the GIA or AGS lab reports for stringency in color and clarity grading.

I'm considering buying from
Blue Nile and wanted to know
if anyone has any experiences

So far they have the best
website I have seen and I like
the search engine for refining

I purchased an engagement ring from Blue Nile and have nothing but good things to say about them! The service was excellent and the price great.
good luck in your search.
