I have found a ring that I love and just want to know if it is a good buy.
The Gemlab valuation lists it as an oval white gold (18ct) rubover bezel on a yellow gold collet and a 4.8mm rounded shank with white gold 2.00mm strip around the centre and short bars at shoulders.
The diamond is oval brilliant cut and was analysed loose from the setting
Weight 0.59 carats
Measurements 6.85 x 4.65 x 3.01mm
Make Good +
Colour D
Clarity VS2
Notes Thick faceted girdle, slight blue fluorescence
What does the girdle mean and is this a good quality stone? What is it worth in NZ$ - the valuation is two years old. Does this mean that the ring has been sitting in the shop this long and is this normal?

You should have this independantly appraised. But you don't have much info on the cut grade other than Good? Doesn't tell much.
Also it would be good if the stone has a GIA lab report as well.
If you would like to see a chart on cut grades of ovals, go to:
