Hi there,

I am looking for opinions concerning the diamond below. Budget is below 1000.

www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/E-SI1-Very%20Good-Cut-Round-Diamond-1446333.asp

Depth: 60.5
Table: 60
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Medium to slightly thick
Fluorescence: Strong
Crown Angle: 32.5
Pavillon Angle: 41.6

Thank you for any help/advice you can provide!

Why did you pick up this particular diamond? E-SI1 is a relatively unusual combination where - particularly in a stone below 0.50 - you are paying a premium for the high colour but not "seeing" it (a well cut J in the same size will look white), and yet are running the risk of having a stone with visible inclusions (not likely in this case; the feather causing the SI1 is under the crown, and seems to be relatively unobtrusive)

The cut is nothing special, and the stone is trading at a "discount" compared to others because of that and the strong fluorescence (which is most likely not an issue, but you should at least be aware of it).

Here is a stone (from the same vendor) which is significantly better cut, and IMHO will look better - for a whisker over $1000 ($1020!)
