Hi, I am considering to buy this diamond for my engagement ring. It has a VS2 clarity rating and has feather near the girdle. Will this cause durability issue in the future? Please advise. Thanks.

Is this a GIA graded diamond?

Concomitant factors to consider with feathers at the girdle area:

1. Girdle thickness at that point
2. Does the feather break the girdle surface plane
3. existence of indented naturals at that point.

In general, feathers in a GIA graded VS-2 clarity grade are not compromising the structural integrity of the stone.

Thanks for your response. Yes, it is GIA certified. I have attached the GIA certificate below. The feathers are located at 10:00 position of the top view and 2:00 of bottom view. Has the feather broke through the girdle surface plane?Attached Image: r-391cert.jpg.gif

I would say no, but the GIA one-dimensional plots need corroboration. The easiest thing to do would be to ask the Vendor to look at the diamond for you.
