What do you think of the diamond below, quality vs. cost?
It would be a birthday gift for my wife.

Carat: .70

Color: F

Clarity: SI1

Cut: Excellent / Hearts and Diamonds

Certification: GIA

Shape: Round

Cost: $3850

Thank you!

It may be reasonable if the diamond is truly well cut (GIA excellent is a good start, but not enough info) and if the inclusions are not visible without a loupe. You may be able to find similar stones for a few hundreds less on the Diamond Finder.

Thanks for the reply. When you say "not enough info" what other info should I get?

As a bare minimum, crown and pavilion angles and an ASET/IdealScope image. A Sarin scan would help too. Best of all is to see and compare the diamond to others.

Looks good. I think you can find equivalent diamonds for a little less, but the vendor seems to be willing to provide good info on the stone, and that is worth something!

The other key question is whether it is eye-clean to your specs.
