It is said that the highest compliment you can pay a business is to provide an unsolicited referral. Customer recommendations and honest commentary about actual experiences are often far more valuable than any print, radio, or internet ads can ever be. People want to know that other people like them have had a positive buying experience.
For this reason, I am posting this message to express my extreme level of gratitude and appreciation for the service I recently received from Jan and Brad Roshto at Diamond Brokers of Florida. After lurking on Diamond Talk and Pricescope for months and having some really uninspiring experiences at local jewelers and with some online retailers, I was at a point of discouragement and disgust. I had invested a great deal of time educating myself and determining what I wanted, but I was having no luck. Prices and availability changed, inventories varied, salespeople often proved only that they knew very little about the very diamonds they were trying to sell me.
One afternoon I fired an email off to Jan to see if she was willing to provide assistance and recommendations. Less than half an hour later I had a response. Jan was able to locate a stone in the price/quality/size I had asked for, and provided a recommendation that almost exactly captured the setting I was imagining in my mind. Her message was friendly, personal, and not pushy nor an attempt to upsell what I had asked for. From the start, it was like interacting with a long-time friend.
I countered with all sorts of questions and Jan always fired right back, usually in under an hour. I'm thinking her biggest occupational hazard is probably carpal tunnel syndrome from all the time she spends at the keyboard! Sarin analyses, Brillancescope readings, photos, microscopy, appraisal advice, laser inscription of the diamond girdle, independent insurers, options, alternatives...no matter what the topic, Jan offers her expertise promptly, freely and willingly.
When I received my ring I had prepared myself for a certain degree of buyer's remorse. Mentally I was ready for disappointment with the finished product. This was one of the largest purchases I've ever made and I just knew that something was going to happen that would make me regret it. Oh, was I ever wrong! If the FedEx driver knew what she was carrying, she never would have given it up. Beautiful stones, beautiful setting, wonderful craftsmanship. I even broke out a loupe to try to find imperfections that would make the ring unique - I'm still looking. If there are inclusions in the center stone, the brilliance must mask them completely. Even with the certificate and 10x magnification I'm having problems distinguishing inclusions from light refractions.
I sleep well knowing that I made the right choice for such a major purchase.
Jan and Brad, you do not disappoint. Please accept my most sincere thanks.
