Hello Everyone~I'm new to this forum, but not to gems and jewelry. I was an RN for over 25 years and had a bad injury in an attempt to do CPR on a patient. Had back surgery-that failed and unfortunately my nursing career came to a halt after the fight of my life to keep working.
I went to our local community college for a certificate in interior design; and have just begun taking few courses at the GIA. Not as a chance of a job opportunity~but more for my own enrichment and education of 2 of my dearest passions.

Now I make jewelry in my home. It's something I can do at my own speed and sometimes go to craft fairs or do weddings, etc for friends. I am a member of the SRAJD. My passion for all thing gems and jewelry related is stronger than ever right now.
I have had some interesting experiences with "Jewelry Television" Both in buying strands and some tools and occasionally a loose gem or piece of finished jewelry. I was just looking at a diamond ring today, it was 14K a .90 center round with 2 smaller rounds~no size given that were surrounded by a triangular frame of gold with small ~again, no weight listed. Then the band was set with pave' 3/4 pf the way around.
They had a retail listed as 5K and are selling it for 2500.00. Nothing was listed about the 4 c's except that all the stones are round. I called cust. svs. and was treated less than courteously. I spoke to 2 different reps who were difficult at best to deal with. The both just read the online description and told me if I wanted a true appraisal, I had to buy it first and spend an extra 50- for it! Usually when you buy a diamond ring of say 1500- and up, you get an appraisal-even a rough one.
I want to know what if any experiences others have had with JTV.com, and what they where like? I am very unhappy with my experience and doubt I will even use them for beads anymore. All reputable jewelers have basic info about color, and clarity which is much different than a full appraisal for insurance. I would love to know others experiences and opinions about this "jeweler". Thanks in advance for your opinions and help!

No idea about JTV, but if there is something you should not have a problem in finding is a nice jewellery dealer for gold/diamond pieces, so my suggestion is just to avoid them.
The behaviour of the reps is unbelievable - why on Earth should someone charge me to get a description of your goods? As the seller, you better do your research and tell me about what you want to sell; I'm the one buying!

JTV is a good enough outfit with a few qualifiers. They mostly sell what they say they're selling, they charge more-or-less reasonable prices for things and they honor their return policy if you're unhappy. That's the good stuf. My biggest complaint is that their 'retail' and comparison prices are nonsense and they talk about them on the TV constantly. They never ever sell anything for the 'regular' price so I have no idea what they think it means and if you want to know what the competition charges for similar things, you should ask THEM, not some Stepford wife working for a TV show. Jeez.
By the way, their 'appraisals' are nonsense too so be glad you didn't shell out the money for one. For $50 you get a second opinion from the same person who provided the first. They don't even bother to look at the merchandise again before they write the report! What's the point of THAT?
Call them what you like but in my book they're definitely a jeweler and they're HUGE. We're talking about the #2 retailer of gems in the world, right behind Walmart. Who would have guessed? 30 years ago when I got into this business, they didn't exist at all and Walmart was just a couple of discount stores in the deep south that refused to sell anything that wasn't made in USA.
