I am looking at buying an Argyle pink diamond and have noticed under the "comments" section on various GIA reports there seems to be different descriptions. Here are two diamonds I am currently debating between, the GIA comments say...
1) Inscription: *argyle symbol* 48890
2) An indented inscription, *argyle symbol* 48890 is not shown
Are both of these correct? What should I look for, or be looking out for?
TIA

Um. This look suspiciously suspicious. Or at least it does if the number is the same for both stones, and they are supposed to be different ones.
The comments themselves are nothing out of the ordinary: one simply states that there is an inscription and that so-and-so is its content. The other says that the place of the inscription is not marked on the plot, but there is an inscription saying so-and-so.
If the so-and-so are exactly the same, but the stones are different, clearly at least one of them is incorrect. Be careful.

Sorry I should of clarified, I made up those numbers. I was concerned someone could look up the diamond(s) and snatch it out from under me using the Argyle number. Sorry for the confusion.
See that would make sense but neither have the inscription plotted. Why the inconsistencies in description? Is there a preffered way in which GIA describes an Argyle inscription?
If I have to I will post the reports.

Normally GIA uses the first format. But there is nothing unusual about the second; it may depend on who wrote the report. If you have any doubts whatsoever:
1. Call GIA (http://www.gia.edu) to verify if the reports are legit or altered
2. Call Argyle (http://www.argyledia...contact_us.html) to check if the numbers correspond with their registry.
