There are a couple questions that I have wanted to ask members of this forum and didn't really know how to go about it, so I thought I would start a thread where I can ask (and hopefully get replies) these questions and maybe others could join in if they have any questions they have always wanted to ask.
Question 1. Hermann, is that Arthur from the Tick as your Avatar? If so, why?
Question 2. LaurieH, is your real identity Hugh Laurie?
I do have more, but I think I will start with those.
I've Always Wanted To Ask...

LOL!!!! No....my first name is Laurie (a less common spelling of "Lori", but said like that, rather than drawn out like Law-ree; also sometimes a nickname for those whose given name is Laura, but I'm legally dubbed such) and last name starts with H. And I'm a girl. BUT, that said, I think Hugh Laurie is a hottie, and if we married, I would be Laurie Laurie. I don't know that I can handle that. How did Glenn Glen not go postal? People need to consider these things when naming their children
LOL
(besides, don't ya think Hugh is busy enough on House? even if he was a brilliant diamond guy (hahah!), I doubt he'd have the time

hmmm...I guess I believe you, but the first time you diagnose someones poor performing diamond's brilliance as lupus I'll know the truth. And I actually know someone named Christie Christie, I like to prewarn people that she is about to meet that she has a serious neurological disorder that causes uncontrolable stuttering
Hermann is MIA so I'll move on...
Davidelevi: How much does it bother you when someone replies to you as David? Have you considered changing your legal name to David Elevi?
Davidelevi: How did you get started at DBL? Did you always aspire to work in the diamond industry? If you could pick one DBL piece/stone as your favourite which would it be?
denverappraiser: What was the most valuable piece of jewellery and/or loose stone that you had appraised?
denverappraiser: What would happen if you moved to a different city?
BTW everyone can feel free to not answer any question if you can't and/or don't want to...my feeling won't be too hurt

No, I don't mind at all. There is a long standing joke with my colleagues that there is this mysterious chap that sometimes goes to work instead of me: his name is David Levi (pronounced as in "Levi's jeans", where my surname is pronounced more or less as in "levy" meaning tax or conscription). I tend to introduce myself as David to anglophones - it gets it 90% right, I am used to it, and they understand right away.
As to DBL, I started as a customer, the passion for gems and diamonds was already there - I have been collecting minerals since the age of 6, and jewellery was a natural way for this passion to grow. David (the owner of DBL) and I get on very well, and he offered me the opportunity to see the industry from the inside; how could I say no?
My favourite DBL piece. Hm. Do I have to stick to what I could remotely afford, or am I free to roam?
In the first case, look at my avatar... - which is this:

2.33 ct Fancy Intense Yellow VVS1 in a floral ring. More images and description here: http://rockdiamond.c...value-gia-r3857
If I am free to roam, then this would be an absolute dream:

Nearly 7 carats of Fancy Vivid yellow, internally flawless, in a Bvlgari-designed ring from the 1950s. If I didn't have a mortgage already, it would almost be worth getting one to purchase this... http://rockdiamond.c...-cut-ring-r3534
