I prefer the "numbers" of the G/VS1, but you are not buying the numbers, you are buying the stone.

Is there any way in which you can get if not the stones at least a set of high quality photographs (including ASET/IdealScope images if you like), or a video comparing the two?

Hi Jacky,

You have chosen 2 great Diamonds, you have excellent taste! I would suggest you speak to PJ or Mike at Broadwaydiamonds.com, that is who I bought my Diamond from, in fact they just sent me a special and it may be of interest to you, have a look, here are the specs:

Carat: 1.20
Round
VS1
Color F
Cut EX
Certificate EGL
Polish EX, Sym EX, Flour NON
Table 57, Depth 62.30, Girdle Med
Measurements: 6.76*6.60*4.19

The price is $9500 CDN, which is way below what a brick and mortar retailer would sell for. In fact they are wholesalers so you will never get prices this low anywhere else, that I have seen.

Good luck

With due respect, Deal Doctor, but I don't think that a stone with an EGL report is necessarily a good purchase, and it requires a lot more discrimination and expertise than usual.

Also - it doesn't matter what they want to call themselves, but if they sell to the public, your recommended store are retailers. Wholesalers sell to retailers, not to the public, by definition.

Many Many thanks!

May i ask u a question? Will Colour F VS2 stone looks bigger than the other one cos it has a larger table, 6.7 mm (G colour) and 7.0 mm (F colour)

For clarity, since VS2 can't be seen by naked eye, is it true that i should go for higher colour, i.e. the F?

is table 62% too wide and will start to affect its brilliance and watt?

Comments will be much appreciated!

Jacky

I'm confused. Clarity and colour have nothing to do with each other. You can have a very white stone highly included, and a flawless Y-Z. Don't assume you have to trade off one against the other.

It's possible that the G/VS1 may look a smidgen smaller, but that would only be apparent if you put the two stones next to each other. In the end, the one that's better cut will look larger - and my bet (but it's a bet - I don't know for sure!) is that the G/VS1 is cut better.

Table at 62% is large for my taste, and it may mean less fire - but some like the look.

What do you mean by "watt"? A diamond is not a light bulb...

I'd say they're close in the same ballpark as far as quality goes. They're both in the VS Clarity category, which means that the inclusions are Minor and visible only under 10x magnification or better and are face-up eye clean. The "big" difference, jumping between F in the Colorless category and G in the Near Colorless category, won't REALLY be noticeable to the eye, esp once it's set. So as far as value goes, an F Color stone (all other things being as equal as possible) will be more "valuable" than a G Color stone, but it's not something that you can SEE.

I'd say that both stones look like good bets, but it's going to come down to what you like best. A diamond with a larger table is not going to appear bigger, per se, but it will have a larger "flash" (reflection off the table) so it might come off as slightly bigger from a distance just with the impression of the sparkle, but it's not going to be by much. I, myself, prefer a slightly larger table on a Round, but it really comes down to personal preference and just how the stone itself looks.

It comes down to which you like better and how they fit in your budget. If you're buying sight-unseen (like from an e-tailer), just make sure that you're buying from a reputable place and that they have a reasonable return policy in case you don't absolutely love it when you do get to see it in person.

Good luck!
