I was just curious, since there have been a couple threads where other stones have been discussed here and there, if anyone was interested in seeing about having a section for information about colored stones? I'm sure most people are here to learn about diamonds, but after the BIG diamond is bought, perhaps this place could be a resource for info about other gemstones for possible future purchases. I definitely LOVE diamonds, but I'm dazzled by color, too, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone. Would that help you?

Absolutely interested - but Hermann needs to give his OK to make this a regular feature.

I'm aware
I just am curious if there'd be enough interest to consider it seriously. I am a gemstone junkie (it's what i do when I'm not doing this
) and would really have fun with it...just wondering if there are others out there who would, too

I'll be glad to support it, if there's interest.

Yes!
Imho, it's better to have a real diamond center stone,
and then some precious gemstones rather than CZ side stones.
Imagine a ruby or sapphire center stone, with some colored diamonds, that would be divine!
It's time to EXPRESS YOURSELF!
Happy New Year to all!

I'm not suggesting that we have the section as a means of moving away from traditional engagement rings--just somewhere to talk about and give/get info about colored stones for other things--birthdays, anniversaries, etc... all those have traditional stones that go with them
That's not the only reason, though--everyone needs a little color in their lives, no?
If you're in, HeartandStone, would you mind voting in the poll, too?

I already did
And yesterday, I'm a bit surprised to see the results...
Perhaps davide's double vote didn't count,
And I agree, celebrities are now into gemstones as center stone!

I think I've only seen two "celebs" (if we're including royalty-to-be) having gemstones as a center stone so far--Jessica Simpson with a ruby, and Kate Middleton with Lady Di's sapphire ring... But colored stones can be so much fun, I wouldn't be surprised to see more
And thanks for voting (I didn't see the addition of the vote the other day when I'd made my post, but seems we have a 4th person interested who hasn't said anything, unless it was H

It's strange how perspective is quick to change - a diamond engagement ring was not customary until the late 1940s (or possibly later; De Beers's "A diamond is forever" campaign dates to 1948, and it is considered the watershed campaign in diamond marketing), and diamonds had no special place or frequency of occurrence in rings or jewels at all until well into the 18th century (not least because the buggers are so hard to cut!)

I figured since it's been a little while, and I've seen a few more folks join the community (besides the spammers!
), that I'd bump this thread back into action. Any other thoughts?
Would people like to see articles about other gemstones in addition to/instead of a forum discussion area for them?

Few articles about gemstones and a forum for coloured diamonds
And some articles and/or forum about celebrity e-rings too!
I'm dreaming....
