I have a 1.00 ct. Round diamond with a number and a symbol (or hallmark) inscribed on the girdle. I need help in identifying the symbol. It looks like a round cut diamond from a side view with something else inscribed within that symbol that I cannot make out. Kind of like the image below. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, JeffPosted Image

I don't suppose there is ANY way you can get a picture through the loupe or microscope to show us? or maybe sketch something as best you can, and scan that in?

Sometimes a "brand" or store will have symbols or things other than JUST the GIA cert # inscribed on the girdle, so it could be something as simple as that.

I cannot get a picture. But, the symbol looks just like the picture shown here, but just the outline and the line to denote the girdle. Then it has what almost looks like the outline of a state within the outline of that diamond symbol. Weird. Thanks for trying to help.

Without an image I don't think we can do much, and maybe not even with that. The companies that sell diamonds will routinely put their logos on it along with the report number from the lab but you'll also see stock numbers from the jeweler. If the number is from a lab, often the mark will be mentioned in the comments section of the lab report and it'll say whose mark it is. If you don't have the lab report, you can guess with some of them and find it on their online lookup systems. Try gia.edu, igiworldwide.com, eglusa.com and eglinternational.org as a place to start. If you know the store it came from, give them a call and ask about it. Unfortunately, lots of jewelers have logos that look sort of like that.
