Any thoughts...different size (no big deal), but different in cut, polish and symmetry and the latter one says: H and A?
What do you think about the two of these...is one better than the other based purely on specs?
Hopefully I will see the smaller one today as I think it is an in-house stone..

They will most likely look quite different. I bet the 1.54 seems quite a bit larger than the 1.36.

They will both look white, particularly in natural light, the fluorescence offsetting any yellow in the stone.

However... they must be seen!

1. Your personal taste will enter the equation.
2. Clouds in an SI2 can be good news (practically invisible) or bad news (fuzzy look to the whole stone)
3. Strong blue fluorescence - may cause a milky or oily look. It happens rarely, but it does happen

Cut-wise, it's not clear whether the VG vs. Ex is purely due to finish (I think with a "good" polish, the maximum GIA will score on cut is VG). Bear in mind that the difference between good and very good polish will only be appreciable with a microscope. Disregard the inscription - even assuming it was put there in good faith, there are no acknowledged standards of what H&A means.

I think it will most depend on the appearance of the diamonds. You're looking at SI2s which means, by definition, that there may be inclusions that will be noticeable under 10x magnification and may be visible to the naked eye. Pay more attention to what is in front of you than a piece of paper. Certifcation is important, but what it really comes down to is this: you wear the diamond, not the cert. If the prices are fair, and both within your budget, pick the one that you like the appearance of better. You can never go wrong that way
