Hi, I bought a ring from Overstock. it is a Tacori. I have a 1 carat heart stone and was wondering if this will work with it. The local jeweler says that he can put a new head on with 5 prongs and it will work. I am hoping to get a second opinion. Here is the overstock link.

Any good jeweler should be able to change out that center. It looks like it may have been made as one piece, rather than having a head that was designed to be interchangeable, but it looks like that head/basket can easily be removed and a new head put in place. And yes, definitely a good 5-prong head with a V at the end for the point of the heart to protect it is the way to go.
Be sure to get a picture of your ring once it's done and post it in the "show us your bling" section
Good luck and congrats!

Hi Laurie,
Thanks for your reply. I am getting the ring tomorrow from UPS and am excited to bring it to a jeweler in person:) instead of the picture I have been carrying around. I am hoping it is as nice as the picture and it can be made to look good. It is tough with a heart stone. I was told by a few jewelers that hearts aren't in and I should set it with a round diamond instead. That is the one my husband proposed to me with it and picked out on his own and I love it. I think I finially found the right setting for it. Right now it is in a plain yellow gold setting and I needed a change. I will post a picture once it is complete. I will have to take a before picture so I can show both.

Hey Maude,
So were you happy with the ring? Ever get that "before" shot?
Hope you've found a jeweler who will do a great job with it
Keep us posted!

Hi Laurie,
I got the setting and it is beautiful! I talked to my jeweler and he is going to set my heart in there and add an extra prong and make it look as it was made to have a heart in it. I am a little nervous about it but I hear he is the best around to do this. I went to a couple of other people and one wanted to change the head to a heart one, (I don't want to change the look of it from the side) and another sublets it to the guy that I am going to.
I couldn't get a picture loaded on the site. I will try again later when I have time to try to figure it out.

I got my ring back and it looks amazing. I will try to post some before and after pictures over the weekend. I was afraid it wouldn't look right and it looks like it was meant to be. I also think a big part of it was that I had a very talented jeweler that did the work.

I look forward to seeing your pictures. Make sure to toss in a plug for your talented jeweler, maybe even start a new thread with their name and city in the title so future customers can see his work if they Google him/her.
