Hi,

I have read what the forum thinks about certification from bodies like AHA, GIA etc. What about certification from a diamond designer/marketer? In my case, http://www.lelumiere.com/main.htm? Any bad experiences?

Thanks in advance.

The question is whether you have any reason to trust them. Tiffany self-certifies, and so does Cartier, but both of them will use GIA for larger or in any way important stones. Still, I would trust a self-issued grade by either one; the company you linked above is a perfect unknown, and I would have great hesitancy in buying anything of any size or importance from them without third party grading.

If the diamond has both the GIA report and their in house grading it shouldn't be a problem. According to what I was reading on them they do both for diamonds larger than .30ct. and up.

Good advice above but I do have a question. Who is AHA? It's not grading from outfits like GIA that you should be looking for. It's grading by GIA.

Thanks a lot for your responses. I am new to buying precious stones and have learnt a lot from your comments. It is AGA and not AHA ;)

hello!

I also checked the link and surprisingly, I like their rings...
I just don't like the idea of other forced-to-be high end products because of the 'diamonds' nah.,
They say 'Diamonds Are Like People' it honestly made me laugh.. ;)

Cheers!
