This is my first ring I bought a couple days ago as our engagement ring. Researched my 4 C's and decided Cut and Color being the most important. I am aware of the sales and marketing by Zales/Kay etc. I decided to go with a small private firm, Rogers Jewelers who have 46 stores nation wide. AGS certified, tax, protection plan for right under $5,500 total. The big retailers of course threw the $13,000 1.5 carat Leo and Celebration diamonds at her that were still of F/G/H color with slightly better clarity than my purchase. I kept re-asking on any better color options and they kept returning back to there SPECIAL cut and indepent certifications...SHHEEESSSHHH!!!! So from the below information, can I get an honest good/bad on my selection. Seeing a TRUE AGS colorless diamond with perfect cut is amazing. I do know the clarity is on the average/lower end but when seeing how much clarity actually has on price it seemed minute. She has no IDEA I have already purchased this diamond. If you need any other information from the AGS paperwork let me know! Thanks. PS I AM EXCITED!!

AGS Round Brilliant
6.43 – 6.46 X 4.00 mm
Cut AGS Ideal 0
Color AGS 0 (D)
Clarity AGS 8 (1I)
Carat 1.010
14K White Gold

To be honest, you cannot. An I1 diamond can be an amazing bargain if the inclusion is such that it is not easily visible in normal circumstances, but there is no way we can tell from the grading report whether that is the case for your stone or not. You have seen it, and you sound happy with it; that's the best meter we have to judge.

On price - it sounds a little steep, but it may be one of those perfectly eye-clean I1s that is priced a lot closer to a good SI2.

Good luck with your purchase, and congratulations for your forthcoming engagement!

I can not participate now in discussion - it is very occupied. But I will be released - I will necessarily write that I think on this question.
