Roughly the same price, which spec would you take for an internet purchase being placed in a yellow gold setting? the SI1/G is graded by GIA (1.6 on the cut adviser) and the VS1/H is graded by AGSL (1.1 on the cut advisor).

Without better information and assuming the time pressure is coming from the seller, I wouldn’t buy either one.

Using a pure formulaic approach with all other things being equal, a VS1/H is 'worth' more than an otherwise similar SI1/G but all things are NOT equal and the devil is ALWAYS in the details.

Nah, the pressure is coming from the fact that I need to hop on a plane in 5 days and need the ring to be ready before then B) Reports attached for both diamonds if that helps. The other option is also to downgrade to http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-1-ca...546?__fun_frm=b

Stock number: LD01520546
Carat weight:0.91
Cut: Ideal
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
Depth %: 62.0%
Table %: 55%
Symmetry: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Girdle: Medium, Faceted
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.21 x 6.25 x 3.86 mm

I'm fine with the slightly smaller size, saves me a bit of cash and gives me the VS2/F colour but I've not got the datashet yet

You mentioned in your other thread that price as one of your top criteria but haven't given the cost on either stone.

If you're in a hurry, what's your plan for the mounting and setting labor? I'm going to assume you're going to get it from the same dealer or at a local jeweler but do you have any limitations on what mounting you're looking for? You may have already pushed the time limit for the setter. Have you spoken with them about it?

I'm going through Blue Nile, so if I get my order in by the end of the dayish (maybe tomorrow) they should have it ready in time, and shipped in order to give me 1-2 days grace. I'm setting this stone into yellow gold, so I'm also not sure if that makes the diamond look more yellow or if it whitens it up.

Be aware that these timelines are estimates only. All 3 of the stones you've brought forth are from the 'virtual' databases, which means they are coming from a 3rd party. Chances are decent that it'll work out fine but it's not all that unusual for things to have been sold out from under you without updating the databases or for that unknown shipper to be a bit slow about shipping.

Yeah, I know. So what do you think, which would I be better off with? An eye-clean SI1/G or VS1/H? After pulling up the VS1/H on the AGS website, the higher resolution version of the datasheet shows some red gashes as well.

As Davide already pointed out, most correctly graded SI1’s are ‘eye clean’ to most people under most lighting conditions but GIA doesn’t use that term (for good reason). That’s a sentence with a lot of qualifiers in it and since no one you know of has seen it since GIA, you have no basis whatever for making that decision. If it’s a big deal to you and since you’re buying blind from the blind with a rock solid commitment to set it before you see it and present it immediately upon arrival, I would avoid the SI1.

Bear in mind that:

1. A VS1 will have no eye-visible inclusions under any circumstances. That's regardless of the red (or green) plot marks, which are anyway far fewer (and smaller) than in a SI1
2. The plot marks are only indicative of placement, size and shape, not drawn to scale and not predictive of visibility. Don't worry over things that don't matter.

Another option may be that of finding a good diamond (whether SI1 or even SI2) from someone that has it in stock and can therefore

a. reassure you about the eye-cleanliness (and possibly take macro photographs of the stone)
b. make a precise commitment on delivery of a set ring

Well B.N. has a pretty guaranteed ship date. I think I've decided for the VS1/H color because it's set on yellow gold. It'll be hard to tell the colour difference once it's mounted in that. Plus the labs that graded that diamond gave it an AGS 0 which is a pretty good indication that it won't be that bad in terms of quality.

Anyways, thanks for all ya'll's imput!

Good luck with the ring - and most of all, with the proposal!
