Is there any girdle thickness that I should avoid in a princess cut diamond? I ask this especially because I am looking for a diamond between 0.85 and 1.05 ct and I see a bunch of diamonds with very thick girdles... a bit afraid of cutters stashing weight here for no advantage to the look of the diamond. Any information about what to look for in that category would be nice. Thanks!

Very thick girdles are a Red Flag and often results in diamonds looking smaller than their carat weight with smaller diameters, high crowns and deep pavilions. This is done to achieve a critical carat weight, e.g.; 1.00 carat which will bring a higher price than a .99 carat.
