i purchased a 1.12 supposed f color vs2 and when i took it to 2 jewelers, one said there was a crack, maybe natural, maybe not, the other said it was a crack probably when mounted, that there was tool mark. i feel ok since was purchased with a cc. but how much does this change the value of the diamond.
#1 if it is natural, then it would have to be a I 1,2 or 3 stone, not vs2.
#2 if it is a crack, will the diamond "get worse" or how would i find the new value???
thanks for your help

theres a huge difference between a crack and a tool mark. in both cases it does become an I1, 2, or 3 as you said. generally cracks do get worse if they are large, but because there is ambiguity between the two jewelers, it sounds like the crack is probably not significant enough to worry about. did you look at it yourself through a loupe? also, if you think the stone was cracked as a result of mounting it, you should complain to the jeweler who did this.
