Marthal,
A 1.46, I-clear round diamond? Do you mean "eye-clean"? What is the color, cut, etc... You need to know a lot more about the diamond before you make any buying decision. $2600 for a 1.46 ct stone is less than $1800 per carat. These sounds awfully cheap unless it is a very poorly cut stone. Post more info if you have it.

it is a 1.46 , originally i was told it was an i color, si2. then she said later she made a mistake, it was a I.
when she told me what to ask for, for comparison, she told me just ask for I-clear. i can see a feather in it, but it seems to have lots of fire. let me know your thoughts, and if you need more info. it is a round, dont know the cut.

Marthal,
If its an I1 its not eye-clean. I think the question is what kind of stone do you want? Do you want to go down in size and get a better color/clarity, or have you looked at enough stones to know that this combination is what you like. Without a lab report, its hard to tell if this stone really is an I color and I1 clarity. This is important to know as different color and clarity grades will have a significant affect on price. Taking a quick look at pricescope, if the stone is as represented and is a good cut, the price looks reasonable.

I assume what she means is "eye-clean" or that you cannot see inclusions visible with the naked eye (ie. without a 10x loupe). However, based on what you have said and the fact that the jeweler stated this stone is an "I" stone, it probably isn't eye-clean.
