I am looking at purchasing an old 1920's vintage diamond ring. The seller does not have an appraisal yet, but he said that the center stone (round brilliant) is 1.4-1.5 carats, H color and SI clarity. I believe the cut is an older cut.

You can see pictures of the ring at:

Anyway, I am trying to determine, assuming an appraisal reveals his description to be accurate, how much the ring is worth. Does anyone have any thoughts or comments regarding buying this ring or vintage diamonds in general. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.
