Colour Grading

Hi,

Why does the colour grading for a diamond start at D and not A?

There were quite a few color grading scales in use when the GIA scale was introduced and A-B-C type grading was fairly typical. They hoped to avoid confusion over issues like whether 'C' is a pretty good grade or a bad one. Mostly, it worked.
