I am looking at a GIA emerald cut diamond at 0.60 carat, color grade E, clarity grade IF with "very good" polish and "good" symmetry.

The GIA report comments state" "Minor details of polish are present."

Does this mean visible under magnification? Visible to the naked eye? Nothing really to worry about? Or "steer clear?"

Thanks,
George Melville

likely no problem at all with this- of course a thourough visual inspeciton prior to purchase is a sound procedure.

Thanks for your advice.

I am looking at some other emerald cut diamonds and have have come across some other GIA terms I have not been able to nail down:

"Clarity characteristics: Crystal finish" [I am most interested in this diamond]

"Clarity characteristics: Cloud finish"

"Clarity characteristics: Needle, pinpoint finish"

Perhaps maybe visible only at very high (50 X +) magnification.

Don't sweat it.
