Is a round dimond with a min girdle 1.3% and a max 4.1% going to look worst then a 2.5% girdle? Or is it just a loss in size?

An extremely thick girdle means a smaller face up size for a particular weight. It doesn't directly affect the brilliance. When most people see a diamond and describe it as 'big', they are refering to face up surface area. When diamonds are sold, 'big' means heavy. These two descriptions are loosely related but not identical and since size and price are related it can lead to trouble for people who aren't paying attention.
