A few weeks back I took my fiancee to a jeweler here in the Seattle area to have her ring finger measured. According to them, her measurement is "4 1/2" which seemed reasonable at the time. However, now I'm doing the shopping by myself and when the question comes up about ring sizes, 2 seperate jewelers have looked at me as if I was a lunatic when I tell them that my fiancee's ring size is 4 1/2. Is this in fact an error or is this a ploy to try to get me to do the final purchase with my fiancee?

Micklem,
I don't know why they would look at you crazy. I wear a size 4 1/2 ring. I'm just a petite woman. If your fiancee is a small-framed woman or just has slender hands, this probably is the correct measurement.
Don't let them fool you. : )

I'm not sure who told you that 4 1/2 did not exist... ring sizes generally go between 4 and 13, and any good jeweler will do whatever is needed to make a ring fit just right even if your finger falls outside of the typical ranges.
