What is fluorescence and is it good or bad? A friend's fiance has a diamond that looks bluish is this it?
Also I'm looking for an emerald cut diamond, color E, around 1 carot. How much should I expect to pay for it including a platinum band?
Thanks for your help

Tom,
Officially speaking, fluorescence is bad meaning that the value of the
diamond is lower if it has fluorescence. However, many people like
the bluish color as it gives the stone a somewhat mystical, different
look to it. So, it comes down to choice -- and if you actually want
fluorescence, then you can save yourself a few $$$!

The over blues are the ones to watch out for, they give
the diamond a milky color.
All the rest will enhance the color of the diamond and
make it look grades better.
People were worried that before this filter was used to
prevent any human error that the grades were thrown
off by fluorescence.
This has all come to pass with new ideas on grading
