how can you tell if its real?

i was just wondering what the main signs are of a fake diamond? for example i heard that diamonds need to "breath" and never are enclosed... or that if you see a rainbow in them theyre fake, true?

Rainbows in diamonds are generally indicative of fracture filling.

Indeed see the other thread for more info regarding real vs. fake diamonds. If you think you have something of great value but aren't sure, it may be worth it to see an independent appraiser.
