Are all diamond earrings measured in total carat weight? I am buying a pair of earrings for a xmas present and have looked at many online. Some will say tcw, others don't. Should I just assume that they are all tcw??? Or will some actually weight 1/2 carat apiece? Thanks for any help!

As you have seen, it varies between vendors and possibly between earrings. Some vendors sell the earrings ready to ship and these are generally listed as total carat weight. Earrings with multiple small diamonds are almost always listed with total carat weight.
Other vendors are more customized where you can select the diamonds you would like set in a particular setting.
Just make sure to ask and confirm, do not assume one over the other.
