The problem is your lab report. It has split grades and estimations of weight versus weighing the stone etc. Unfortunately the stone is estimated in color, clarity and weight as well. This is just not detailed enought to tell. I can say that IGI over inflates their appraisals to the point of ridiculous. Saw one the other day estimated at over $13,000 and another independent appraiser gave it about $4800 just to give you an idea. Probably appraised for 3 times higher than it should be realistically. Also if you get insurance on it based on the appraisal price, you will be overpaying as well.

Did you get "ripped off"? No.

Is there a very good likelihood that you way overpaid? Yes. For the reasons Jan stated above.
