How bad is it to purchase a diamond that has the girdle faceted?

Can someone explain faceted?

The girdle is the outside perimeter of the stone. It's the edge. Faceting puts a polish on it. If you look at it under a microsope you can see little flat facets that extend all the way around the stone. This is a good thing although it's not really a big deal for most people either way.

Some people like the look of faceted girdles, some actually like the way they look smooth. I like them faceted personally. :)
