Does anyone have any experience with Tacori? I'm thinking of having one of their original designs modified (changing the band type, making the center stone an oval) and wanted to know what the general impression was out there before I proceed.

Thanks for your help.

They will probably recommend that you start over again on the ring. They make each ring to the stone size and shape as well as the ring size. I don't think they will modify their setting to another shape in the center without remaking the entire ring.

And you wouldn't want them to either. The "modified" setting will never be as structurally correct as a setting designed specifically for the stones you're using.

Tacori is very unlikely to agree to such a request for the reasons described above and I'm pretty sure they won't do custom designs at the manufacturer. The Tacori dealer that you're speaking with may have an in-house shop that can do modifications but this sort of retrofitting is almost always a bad idea and I wouldn't expect them to recommend it. Perhaps what they are suggesting is making a brand new ring that is similar to a Tacori design but that has some variations to suit your particular case. This would not be a genuine Tacori product but you will end up with the look that you're seeking. Tacori designs tend to be a little complicated but many custom jewelers do excellent work. This strikes me as a better route unless you just must have the Tacori brand.

Add to this - you may find that you will be more pleased with a ring "inspired by" the Tacorri style but using your new design elements and custom made from the ground up to be exactly what you want.. And you may find the pricing quite comperable to buying a new ring and then hacking it up to modify it..

Ring modification can be done, but in many cases it's actually easier to create a new ring than modify an old one..
