Have you ever viewed a diamond in the dark with a "white" light? Some people also called a "black" light. When you're in the dark and have one of these lights, only white items glow...like t-shirts, sneakers, etc. I was in the dark and shined a light on my diamond ring (mostly for fun) and was surprised to see some didn't shine at all and some glowed like a flourescent green...can you help in solving this puzzle? Thank you.

Fluorescence.
Some diamonds have it, some diamonds don't. Generally speaking, diamonds with strong fluorescence are worth less than those with no fluorescence. However there is continue debate in the industry on whether this is a legitimate pricing practice.
My advice to consumers: If you like the fluorescence, then buy a diamond with fluorescence!
