I need to price a specific engagement diamond, to make sure I am getting a fair deal. I am working with a reputable jeweler, who is a friend of a friend. Thus, I have no reason to believe that I am not getting a decent deal. Here are the specifics on the diamond:

Princess Cut
1.59 Carats
VS1
F Color
Certification is being provided.
Cut is good, as well.

Please let me know what a reasonable price is for this diamond, excluding the cost of the mounting, etc.

Thanks.

Not enough information.

Need the following minimum information:

1. Certifying Lab.
2. Measurements and Specs.
3. Sarin or Megascope Cut Analysis

I don't have any more information. Please just provide me with a reasonable price, based on reasonable assumptions of the information you listed.

Thanks.

How about this, BSchatz?

I'm looking for a 3 bedroom house, Colonial Style, LR/DR, 1.5BTH, detached, with driveway.

What would be a reasonable price to pay based on reasonable assumptions? :D

Can you help me?

If you're comfortable putting down a wad of cash with this little info even though it's a friend of a friend, well OK, it's your money. Trust is good, verification is better.

No tradesperson would advise you given so little information, especially since this is a Princess Cut.

Bchatz,

Go to a jeweler who can show you a stone that meets your requirements and ask them the price of the one that they are selling. Most should have little trouble finding something that has those general specs. Not everyone wants to take the technical route but Barry is right that this isn't a complete question. Finding a trusted jeweler who can assist you with your purchase is a common and perfectly acceptable solution. It sounds like you've found a jeweler that suits your fancy. The expected price will vary by more than a factor of 3 depending on the other details about the stone, the other elements of the deal and the marketplace chosen. Any answer we could give is just as likely to cause confusion as it is to help.
