Here are some other things to watch out for on the internet:

On forums such as this, someone with not even their real name will come on and tell you where to purchase you stone from, maybe even telling you that they purchased from this internet site. You don't know who these people are, they could even be the vendor themself in disguise. Some are even paid a referral fee to send you to the site if you purchase (shills). They sit on the forums constantly directing traffic to the site where they work.

Also there are some things that appear to be unbiased such as search for your nearest jeweler etc. They will tell you that they have searched for a local jeweler in your area and none have been good enough to recommend to you so why not buy from these other internet sites instead. Then you suddenly get an e-mail from the internet site telling you about their stones. This is not independent folks. It is simply an advertising gimmick. Those that pay get recommended and those that don't, don't.

This I know for a fact as we were evaluated by this system and passed with flying colors, however then they contacted us to pay for advertising to recommend us.

Not very honest in my opinion.

Also watch out for those books that give you this advice and that advice about how to buy a diamond and then turn around and recommend their own company.
They will tell you, you have to look for a place that will sell you a bond on their diamonds etc. Watch out, this is nothing more than a way to get you to buy from them. Many clients out there found out that they were duped into buying from them with less than honest results.

I also found a couple of other sites that claim that they are unbiased ,and will out of the goodness of their heart, send you to someone to purchase a diamond from that they have researched. They do fail to mention that the ones that they recommend are paying them a commission. Beware.
